As a commercial equine photographer, I love the challenge of bringing a brand’s vision to life, especially when it involves capturing the essence of horses in breathtaking locations. Recently, I had the opportunity to do just that for Weatherbeeta, a globally respected brand known for its high-quality horse rugs and blankets.
The Project
Weatherbeeta reached out to me with a specific request: they wanted to showcase both new and existing products in an authentic western ranch setting. Because the company is based outside the U.S., this was a fully remote shoot, meaning I was responsible for producing the entire project from start to finish.
Finding the Perfect Location
When planning this shoot, I knew the backdrop had to complement Weatherbeeta’s brand aesthetic—rugged yet beautiful, practical yet breathtaking. I settled on a stunning ranch near Crater Lake, Oregon. With its rolling pastures, wide-open skies, and dramatic natural beauty, it was the perfect place to capture the essence of the western lifestyle and the durability of Weatherbeeta’s products.
Wearing Many Hats: Producer & Photographer
Since this was a remote shoot, my role extended far beyond just taking photos. I acted as producer, handling logistics, scouting locations, and sourcing the right equine models to bring the vision to life. I also ensured that every blanket and rug was showcased in the best possible light.
On the day of the shoot, everything had to come together seamlessly—horses needed to look their best, the gear had to be properly adjusted, and the horses had to move freely in specific locations. These elements require careful coordination and a lot of horse-handling know-how! I couldn’t have done it without the incredible help of my friend Lindsay Nettleton. Lindsay worked tirelessly behind the scenes, helping with horse handling, adjusting blankets, and keeping the energy high with her enthusiasm (and, I have to add, feeding me some truly amazing meals!).
The Final Results
The images and videos from this shoot beautifully highlight Weatherbeeta’s dedication to quality and performance. From cozy turnouts keeping horses comfortable against the elements to lightweight, breathable sheets for warm weather, every product was designed to offer both style and function. Through careful planning, natural lighting, and the right setting, I was able to create visuals that reflect the reliability and craftsmanship that Weatherbeeta is known for.
A Big Thank You
I’m so grateful to Weatherbeeta for trusting me with this project and allowing me to bring their brand to life through imagery. It was an honor to collaborate on a shoot that not only showcased their exceptional products but also celebrated the spirit of the western horse and rider.
