The sun FINALLY came out, so we rearranged the schedule so we could go back to Keeneland when there was real light to work with!
Some people have asked me what I think of the horse racing industry after this experience, and I have to say that I have more respect for it than I ever have. I was especially touched by how much attention the horses receive and the genuine care shown them by all the grooms, jockeys and other professionals we encountered. From what I saw, they take a lot of pride in their work and in the horses.
I love steam!
I was crouching in the corner, waiting for the next shot to happen, and this guy took quite an interest in me. 🙂
This was the shot I was waiting for. Yummy light and lines!
After the track, we header to the beautiful Vinery Farm. This colt “Double Glory” found us fascinating. 🙂
Our primary purpose for visiting this farm was to photograph Anastassia Zikkos and one of the horses she works with. I believe the horse is “Cassidy’s Pride.”
I got to hold this mare when Anastassia went to change clothes and just loved her gentle spirit and being near such a beautiful, powerful horse!
Teaching what I call the “Standard Portrait” in open shade.
Annastasia looked hot in this dress!
Afterwards, we went to another farm (I am losing track now which one) and photographed some foals out in the pastures.
The last part tomorrow – some more racing photos and some cool silhouettes!
