The second day of the workshop started with an early trip to the Keeneland Racetrack, where we photographed around the paddock area and as some of the horses were worked out.
Midmorning, I began to teach on portraiture, using Becky as a model. She is a trainer and took a few minutes out of her busy schedule to let us photograph her with some of her favorite trainees. 😉
Then we headed out to an area farm to photograph some little girls and their pony. As we were waiting for them to get ready, I captured this scene in the shadows of the barn.
We all just fell in love with this muddy little pony!
This sweet girl had just gotten her stuffed whale for her birthday and wanted a picture with it. So cute!
Next we visited Stonewall Stallions, where they paraded their handsome stallions for us to photograph. Yes, that’s a stained glass window in the BARN! I’m telling you, this place is amazing!
I believe this handsome fellow is Doneraile Court.
This guy was unforgettable – Value Plus. He is a stunning horse with such presence and amazing muscle tone. His offspring hit the track in 2009 and did very well.
The sun FINALLY came out for a few minutes. This is easily one of my favorite photos from the whole trip. My good-looking subject is Leroidesanimaux.
The guys who work at Stonewall were up at 6am to get the horses ready for us. We showed our gratitude by taking their photo together! 😀
Check back tomorrow for more photos. Lots more from the track with steam and sun!
