DESCRIPTION
"Portraiture from the Heart" is a full-day, hands-on photography workshop. I teach on a variety of subjects in this workshop with a focus on natural, genuine portraiture, as well as my philosophy and heart behind my photography. I challenge students in this workshop to create compelling images that move the heart, not just the mind.
The workshop is split into two segments. The first segment is in lecture format, wrapping up with a hand-on photography session working indoors with available light. The second segment is at an outdoor location, where students have another hands-on photography session with a variety of subjects. I first demonstrate concepts covered in the lecture, such as working with different types of light, connecting with your subjects, and natural posing techniques. After the demonstration, I send the students out with real people (not professional models) to photograph. I gently coach participants as they work, helping them apply what they have learned.
This workshop is for those with Digital SLR cameras and a strong understanding of how to use their equipment (you will be encouraged to shoot in manual mode). This workshop will not be covering the basics of photography, but those just learning and/or with basic equipment are encouraged to attend, as great photography is about so much more than having expensive gear.
COST
If you are interested in hosting a workshop, the cost is $400 per participant, with a minimum of 5 participants, maximum of 10. A $200 deposit is required by each participant to hold their spot. Workshop hosts receive a 50% discount. Travel fees for out of town workshops will increase the cost per student between $50 and $100.
