It’s been a few years since we have had a real Minnesota winter with LOTS of snow, but this year was definitely the year for snow! Once we had a good snow pack, I put out a call on my Facebook Page, asking for people to allow me to come to their farms and photograph their horses at liberty in the snow. I was able to schedule three sessions before my schedule got too crazy. I plan to do this again next year and I’m excited because I have come to realize that I LOVE photographing horses in the snow. And a nice little side benefit is the awesome cardio workout of running through knee deep snow!
A growing part of my business is licensing my images as stock photography. I primarily license my equine images, but I could expand that at some point. I am constantly growing my searchable library at Shelley Paulson Stock.
I’m going to share my favorite images from all three sessions, as I need to get this blog caught up and start showing you more recent work!
The first place I visited was the farm of Keri Wesley. Her horse Dandy (center above) was very animated and gave me a lot of great photos! But Bullseye the pony wasn’t going to let Dandy have all the fun. I totally enjoyed my time with Keri and her horses!
Next, I visited the farm that my friend Amy Kellen manages – Lake Meadows Farm. There were three fun yearlings, her beautiful mare Ameka and her always handsome and proud gelding Fahrenheit +\.
I actually returned a few days later when a beautiful hoar frost covered the trees and photographed Fahrenheit +\ again. 🙂
Last but not least – Debbie Chazin-Caruth of Talvina invited me out to photograph her beautiful Friesian and Gypsy Vanner horses. I was pretty much in horse heaven at this point!
Debbie even agreed to wear her beautiful wedding gown for some photos. 🙂
